We may be wacky, we may be loopy, some might even call us deranged, but this is the story of us, our little family living our big little life in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex of Texas, at Home on Deranged.
My husband, Thomas, and I are the scions of this clan, meeting up at a daily newspaper in 2004, where I worked on the editorial side, he in advertising. To this day, we still argue over which one is more important for a newspaper, although we agree to disagree most of the time. For almost seven years, we owned a small weekly newspaper in deep Southeast Texas, where we tended to agree more than disagree.
Annie, born in January 2011, is our whirlwind, who made our life infinitely more interesting than we ever thought possible, while Leelou, born in May 2012, is our wunderkind who has shown us that all the stereotypes we held to so dearly are really just a bunch of crap.
Home on Deranged is a family lifestyle blog – meaning, pretty much everything on here is about doing things together as a family, celebrating victories as a family, trying out new tech/travel/books/music/movies together as a family, with some tips and advice along the way. Oh, and lots of funny stories sprinkled with a few funny pictures. Because one thing we do daily is laugh. out. loud. A lot. At each other, usually.
In addition to being a news junkie and pop culture addict, I love all kinds of reading, and I’m a hard core hold-the-book-in-my-hand reader. Yes, I have an e-reader, but there’s something about being able to dogear the page as my bookmark that I love. I’m also very interested in photography, but readily admit that my skills are only so-so. But I’m going to keep trying. And I’m fascinated by social media and learning more every day.
Thomas and I always strive to include our girls in our adventures, and this is just one of them. Thanks for joining us!
And now, introducing the cast of characters!
