Life’s little moments don’t stay little forever. That’s the driving force behind the Kodak moments app, because let’s face it, time is flying by, and one day, you’re going to wonder why you didn’t take more pictures! You may have seen my previous post on the My Kodak Moments app, but some things have changed with this newer version, and you’re not going to want to miss it.
One of the biggest memory makers we had this summer was our trip to St. Croix. In addition to it being our first trip as a family of four to a location outside the lower 48 states, it was a beautiful setting for a family getaway. The week-long trip was made possible by my sister’s wedding, with a kicking reception after on the beach. All four of us were dolled up, and sporting ear to ear grins for almost 24 hours straight.
Because I love taking pictures, I came home with casual as well as formal pictures. There’s the girls, the bride, my dad, the groom’s family…so many wonderful faces that I hope to see for years to come. But since we don’t all live in the same town, I’ve taken it upon myself to create framed collections for everyone. I downloaded the Kodak Moments app (iOS or Android), which is completely free, and got to work. You can pull pictures from your phone, your Facebook or Instagram accounts.
Once you load the app, you can link your social media accounts for easy access. Then you can choose whether you want to connect to a kiosk right at the store, or you can order prints that are ready for same day pickup OR can be shipped to your home. We love choices.
I opted to try both, just to see which I preferred. I had a fun picture of the four of us that I wanted to enlarge, so I connected to the kiosk as I was standing in front of it. As you can see, the enlargement came out terrific, except for my lack of appropriate cropping skills. Sorry, Leelou!
I reversed course and decided to simply order online. The prints are so inexpensive to do! You can pick sizes from 4×6 all the way up to 24×36 poster size. Amazing! You can order lots of them, or just one at a time. I chose to print four for a frame, and I instantly fell in love with them. There are numerous Kodak kiosks, but we happen to live less than 5 miles from a Target store that has one. As you can see, it’s not intimidating at all, and it’s super easy to use:
Plus, it doesn’t print your shots until you get to the store and tell the kiosk to do it, so you don’t have to worry about anyone accidentally picking up your pictures by mistake. You receive an email from Kodak that tells you when the order has been received. If you don’t happen to make it to the kiosk the same day you order, no worries. The order waits for you!
Finished Kodak Product
For this first time, I chose 4×6 prints to suit my frame of choice. But next time, I’m going to be a better planner and make some enlargements of the pictures I really love. The Kodak Moments app will alert you if your picture choice isn’t quite right for the enlargement size you’ve chosen, and it will also alert you if the picture quality isn’t quite high enough. Meaning, you can make choices right there, on your phone, without spending extra money only to find out later the prints didn’t come out.
