If you love barbecue, then you know that Texans LUV their barbecue. We can grill out almost year-round, or we can get clever and creative and create delicious BBQ dishes in the kitchen. One of our family’s newest additions to the rotation is Stubb’s, born and bred right here in Texas. If you’re looking to add gourmet flavor without the price, you’re going to love what I’m about to tell you.
Quick and Easy Meals
Okay, the holidays are hectic and fast-paced, but you’ve still got to feed your family. Semi-homemade food is one of the top foodie trends for 2014, and Stubb’s can help you create craveable, high-quality meals form basic fresh ingredients in your home.
This year’s new line is the Cookin’ Sauces, which can be used in a skillet or a slow cooker. They pair up with fresh pork, chicken, beef and vegetables to bring the yum to the plate. Thomas is the head chef in our house, as you all know, and he particularly liked the Bar-B-Q Slider flavor on pork, and so did we! It was like going to the barbecue restaurant but without the extra cost or the fuss of taking two toddlers out to dinner.
The Cookin’ Sauces kits include cooking sauce, finishing sauce and spice pack, and makes about five servings. There was definitely delicious leftovers for the next day’s lunch. In addition to Bar-B-Q Slider, there’s Chili Fixins, Hatch Chile and Smokehouse Bourbon. I’ve seen plenty of steak and chicken recipes, but there’s also ways to use it with fish, so you can feed almost any appetite.
All-Natural and Not a Lot of Extra Calories
Stubb’s line includes all-natural sauces, marinades and rubs in addition to the new Cookin’ Sauces. They are all certified gluten-free and contain no artifical flavors, colorings or high fructose corn syrup. If you’re like us, you try to avoid pre-packaged, processed food, and this is a really great alternative for family dinner time. Plus, the Cookin’ Sauces don’t add a lot of fat and calories, coming in between 10 and 70 caolories per serving and only 1 gram or less of fat. Happy holidays, indeed!
Recipes for Every Course from Appetizer to Dessert
In case you are in need of inspiration on how to use the variety of Stubb’s fine flavors, there’s a Recipes page on the Stubb’s website with ideas for appetizers, beef, chicken, pork, turkey, seafood, veggies and sides. Plus, there are drink ideas and dessert ideas. That’s right – barbecue sauce for the sweet tooth. Check out the picture of the Holiday Fruit Bruschetta as an hors d’oeuvre:
