Disclosure: The lovely folks at Famosa and KidStuff PR sent two complimentary Nenuco dolls for the purpose of a comprehensive review. No other compensation was received, and all opinions are my own.
With two toddler girls in the house, it seems that we cannot have enough baby dolls. They come in all shapes and sizes, all colors and ethnicities, from storybook land and from the girl next door section. We recently added two more to the total with Nenuco’s newest soft-body additions, My Little Nenuco, My First Nenuco Kisses, and Nenuco & Her Little Sister, and they are big hits!
I often wonder if it’s a case of nature vs. nurture when it comes to little girls and their dolls, but it does seem like they start early, working on how to be a mommy. And probably the best way is imaginative play with their dolls, which we see ours do on a regular basis. They push them around in their doll-sized strollers, they go “shopping” with them in their doll-sized shopping carts, and they put them to bed. In a variety of places.
We received the My Little Nenuco and My First Nenuco Kisses for our review. They were instantly a hit. In fact, once they saw the boxes, they were giddy with anticipation, following me around until I finally opened them. Right off the bat, My Little Nenuco was the biggest hit and I’ll tell you why: she has a pacifier. Our girls went crazy for that. It is sewed to the doll, so it is difficult to lose it, which is great with forgetful little toddlers.
My Little Nenuco is 14 inches long, and smells sweet. Really! It’s kind of a fruit smell, and it is good. She also was in a onesie with a monkey design, with hat, shoes and of course, the attached pacifier. Since the head, legs and arms are made of soft plastic, kids can’t take the hat and shoes off, which means you won’t be searching for lost clothes all the time. And she has these amazingly long eyelashes that had our 3 year old mesmerized.
My First Nenuco Kisses is 16.5 inches long, and she, too, smells sweet. It’s the most amazing thing. She comes in pink and white striped pj’s, and yes, you guessed it, the 2 year old had them off of her within an hour. But that didn’t keep her from sitting the doll on her lap and repeatedly pressing her little left foot to make the kissing noises. It was really cute, and she got very attached.
In addition, there is Nenuco & Her Little Sister. When I was pregnant with baby #2, I often wished I had a way to explain to Annie that she was about to have a baby sister, and this would have been a great tool. The big sister is 15.5 inches tall, while the younger sister is slightly smaller. They are dressed in matching patterns, and really are cute. I have no doubt it would help build that nurturing relationship of sisters.
These dolls are great for a “first doll” experience, but I can tell you (as an experienced doll “grandma”), they are perfect for all ages. Who doesn’t love holding a sweet little baby?
